SCHOLAR SHARING SERIES: PETRONAS SCHOLARSHIP

After my SPM result was released, I used my holidays to apply all kinds of scholarship via online. They includes Khazanah, Petronas, JPA, and Shell. After applying, I spent some time finding what career path I’m really have interest in. This was quite tough for me, although I had browsed through tons of jobs test. Finally, I manage to find out that Mechanical Engineering suits me the best. But a kindly reminder here, what you like now does not mean that it will be your final destination.

I received the email about the interview from Petronas when I’m still studying at Matriculation. Then, I applied leave from my matriculation college and went to the interview venue. There were 2 phases during the interview, which were online quiz and group interview. After being qualified to phase 2, the group interview began. The interviewers were very friendly and they smiled all the time. During the interview, I was feeling like talking with my friends. During the interview, you have to speak clearly, your English does not have to be very fluent and zero grammar mistake. You have to be confident in what you are talking about. When you are sharing your ideas, make sure you have eyes contact with everyone. And the most important thing here, when you guys are having group presentation, do not snatch others speaking opportunity, instead, try to give chance to others by cueing them. But make sure you manage to present your points too in the presentation. And lastly, after the interview ends, remember to thank the interviewers and your group mates by showing appreciation for the effort.

Before knowing that I’m qualified for the scholarship, I enrolled myself in matriculation college in Kelantan. After 3 months studying at matriculation college, I received the email from Petronas telling me that I’m qualified for the scholarship. It offers me a full scholarship for 5 years Mechanical Engineering course in UTP. Since I already know my preferred career path, I quit the matriculation college and accept the scholarship from Petronas.
